[Italian Lesson] Che sbadata!

Che sbadata che sono!

A cute expression that you can use when you’ve done something silly or foolish is “che sbadato/a!”

Ecco alcuni esempi:

  • Che sbadata! Ho dimenticato il libro che dovevo portarti. Scusami! - How silly! I forgot the book that I was supposed to bring to you. I’m sorry!

  • Quindi sei andato al mercato ma non hai comprato gli ingredienti di cui abbiamo bisogno per cena stasera. Che sbadato. Mi sa che dobbiamo andare in pizzeria allora. - So, you went to the market but you didn’t buy the ingredients we need for dinner tonight. How careless. I guess we have to go get pizza then.

  • Che sbadata che sono! - How careless of me!

As far as I can tell, you use this to poke light fun at someone or yourself. It’s not used to be mean or condescending.
